Hart an der Grenze - rebel music inspired by the novel
Wednesday Dec 17, 2008
Wednesday Dec 17, 2008
The titel of novel by Norbert Himme´s "Hart an der Grenze" can be translated in different ways. It could be read as "Close to the edge" or as "Strong at the frontier". The story is about a rebel punk rock youth in the late seventies / early eighties of the last century. It´s about a life on the boring country side of West-Germany. A life between books, music und rebellion. Rebellion against the "normal" live and the downpressing society. And, of course, against the growing power of a nuclear industrie. Reading the book, you´ll find a lot of music between the lines, it was the soundtrack of these times. (Click here and read some lines (in German))The author, a good friend of mine, asked me to mix down an extraction of this sounds. So here it is. And here´s the playlist:

Dubmotion: the all sessions
Tuesday Dec 09, 2008
Tuesday Dec 09, 2008
This one was recorded at the Berlin Culture Centre "All" in the year 2000 and was released on a small number of tapes. It was a female project including Sister Baba on the decks, Mrs. Melody playing the melodica and Sister Ifua playing the percussion. Overdubed in the studio by the all-massive. I was lucky to find one of the tapes, that is still working (I beg your pardon for the sound quality). And the playlist got lost, too. Extra-Terrestrial Delays
Friday Mar 28, 2008
Friday Mar 28, 2008
Arthur C. Clarke (16 December 1917 – 19 March 2008) Clarke's most important scientific contribution may be his idea that geostationary satellites would be ideal telecommunications relays. He described this concept in a paper titled Extra-Terrestrial Relays — Can Rocket Stations Give Worldwide Radio Coverage?, published in Wireless World in October 1945. The geostationary orbit is now sometimes known as the Clarke Orbit or the Clarke Belt in his honour. "I sometimes think that the universe is a machine designed for the perpetual astonishment of astronomers." “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” So here´s the playlist:
