the extra slow inner city heat wave dub mix

• August 28th, 2018

Another hot and dry summer in Berlin inspired this mix: a lot of Reggae, Dub and a little bit of Electronica from the last few years and some all-time hits. All of them slow, some even extra slow: the Clash and Dexys Midnight Runners interpretations, great instrumentals (and great voices), old school Reggae style, Jazz and Soul influeced stuff, electronic beats and DUB.

Electric Darkness in Dub Vol. 6 (the slow, the deep & the heavy)

• April 22nd, 2018

Two tracks lead the way to this mix tape: the Dubtechno sound of Babe Roots and the Sylvan Morris dub mix of  African Star´s "They Just Can't Stop Us". Both styles are rooted in the history of Reggae and Dub, both put their trust in very repetetive beats and, last but not least, create a dark and dusky atmosphere. Perfect, to be the crystallization points for a new episode of the Electric Darkness series. Get ready for a spacy blend of Dubtechno, Ambientdub, Jungeldub, Dubstep and, of course, pure Dub from 1984 to 2017.

So, here´s the playlist:

Tack>>Head - One Thousend Overdubs

• October 28th, 2017

When Funk turns Dub turns Industrial turns Dub turns Funk, then you are here: TACK>>HEAD! A band that fascinates me since the late 80s...

"Tackhead was created when bassist Doug Wimbish, guitarist Skip McDonald and drummer Keith Leblanc, the SugarHill Records house band (and one of the electro funk most recorded rhythm section) met english dub master and On-U sound boss Adrian Sherwood in 1984.
First under the moniker Fats Comet then Tackhead, they have recorded experimental 12" singles, using sampler as a real instrument, mixing dub, funk and industrial music. In 1989, vocalist Bernard Fowler joined the band into a less underground direction.
Tackhead was also a backing band for Mark Stewart or Gary Clail." (taken from www.discogs.com)

Icon 1999 - The Switch Docta pre-selection Vol. 1 & 2

• June 29th, 2017

Digging in my archive I found my pre-selection for a show I played with Tom Bauminista at the icon club in Berlin at the end of 1999. The icon club was famous for Drum and Bass music, but sometimes there were nights with related musical stuff.

My vinyl pre-selction had it´s focus on electronic Dub and Reggae tracks: Vol.1 & 2 starts with some On-U sounds, followed by tunes taken from some Dub albums of the early 80´s and features in the end a lot of Mad Professor´s Ariwa sounds.

inner city late night walk

• May 27th, 2017

If you like the Electric Darkness in Dub-series, you may like this one, too. Similar, but less futuristic. Dub, Drum and Bass, Electro, Trip Hop, Blues and Jazz, all with a little dark, melancholic taste.
And take my advice: Please, don´t use this mix in the bright daylight, it won´t work.

1% against famine!

Hunger.jpg

Allein deswegen schon mal: Danke!
